#politics Just six months before the elections in Venezuela, the national president announced that he would be willing to meet with opposition leaders “whenever they want,”” as they want.”.
Nicolás Maduro himself has requested a negotiating table, where different international sectors are invited and where he is present the Norwegian government who has stressed on many occasions to serve as an intermediary between the two parties.
The initial point demanded by President Nicolás Maduro to achieve a negotiation with the Venezuelan opposition would be the immediate lifting of all sanctions, full recognition of the legitimate National Assembly and returning bank accounts to institutions such as Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV).
For his part, opposition leader Juan Guaido proposed to resume negotiations and call for a schedule of elections that includes presidential elections, allow the massive influx of humanitarian aid and vaccines” against covid-19, and the release of political prisoners in exchange for the “progressive lifting” of international sanctions.
Meanwhile the Venezuelan crisis continues to rise and what is only glimpsed is another failed negotiation that only gives oxygen to this regime to keep it in power.
