Setup

At the highest point of the Cerro Amazons in the Atacama Desert of Northern Chile, the “ALMA Observatory” Atacama Large has been set up. It is the world's largest space telescope, built with 66 radio telescopes. They observe electromagnetic radio beams in millimetres and wavelengths in sub-millimetres.

Focusing on the Large Magellanic Cloud, which is 160,000 light years from Earth, something has been recorded outside our galaxy that could change the way we look at life in space.

It was discovered outside the Milky Way for the first time thanks to the World's largest telescope.
