My own children weren't “classic, Belgian” kids either. They rarely played with their toys, but took my pots and pans out of the closet and then set up a restaurant in their games room, where we had to come and eat. (Dressed as waiter and all.) Or they converted the entire upper floor into an amusement park. (Including teddy bear deathride through the skylight all the way into the garden.) Or they made a haunted house for Halloween, where you were driven around in the office chair (to the delight of all the children in the neighborhood every time).
Fun to read. I used to let the kids play a lot with natural materials.
All friends wanted to join, because they weren't allowed to make a mess at home.
