In 1538, the Oidor Gabriel Carvajal ordered the construction of a chapel in wall and tile, and later, in 1598, the improved construction began on behalf of the Oidor Miguel de Ibarra. However, it was operated on and restored on different occasions due to defects in its construction and because of the tremors of the time.

In 1919, Pastor Julio Avellaneda consecrated it as the Immaculate Conception, and in 1925 he ordered the construction of the current church. The work took 20 years, it was inaugurated on December 8, 1946 by Father José del Carmen Castro, in honor of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception, patron saint of the Spanish Army's Infantry Weapon and San Roque, patron saint of the poor, the sick and animals.
