Ham, Cheese, and Apple Croissants are a delicious twist on the classic ham and cheese combo. The crisp, sweet apple slices add a refreshing contrast to the savory ham and melty cheese, creating a perfect balance of flavors. With an optional drizzle of honey or maple syrup for a touch of sweetness, this variation is ideal for breakfast, lunch, or a delightful snack. Easy to prepare and full of flavor, these croissants offer a fun, elevated take on a beloved classic.

Ingredients:

  • 4 croissants (fresh or day-old)
  • 4 slices of cooked ham (deli ham or thick-cut ham)
  • 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or Gruyère)
  • 1 apple (preferably Granny Smith or Fuji, thinly sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons of butter (for brushing)
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Prepare the croissants:
Slice the croissants in half horizontally, making sure not to cut all the way through. If the croissants are fresh, you may want to slightly toast them for extra crunch.

  3. Spread mustard (optional):
If using Dijon mustard, spread a thin layer on the inside of each croissant for an extra layer of flavor.
