Which parts can your body regenerate itself?
The human body has a limited ability to regenerate tissues and organs, but there are some parts that can do this to some extent. Here are the key examples:
-
Skin
The skin has a strong regenerative capacity. Cuts, scrapes and minor burns can often heal completely as skin cells divide and repair damaged tissue. -
Liver
The liver is unique because it is the only internal organ that can regenerate a large part of itself. Even if a significant part of the liver is removed (eg during surgery or donation), the remaining tissue can grow back to almost its original size. -
Bones
When a bone breaks, it can heal itself through a process of regeneration. Cells such as osteoblasts and osteoclasts work together to repair broken bone.Loading full article...
