As a native Macedonian, we all take great pride in Ohrid, other than "The Pearl of the Balkans" it is commonly referred to as ''The Jerusalem of the Balkans" due to the 365 or more churches and monasteries that are located here. The whole Ohrid region is also protected by UNESCO as a world heritage site.
